My Journey

What I used to think math was about:

Thinking Traditionally — All I could do were the algorithms.

Where I went through Recovering Traditionalists Anonymous:

BSU blue turf — This is the famous blue turf at Boise State University, where I got my Master’s degree and learned to think about mathematics instead of just DO mathematics….and the whole time, I never once attended a game at this field.

Now what I think math is about:

Thinking Strategically — Now I have strategies to help me figure out problems quickly and in my head.

What I do now instead of teaching in the schools:

Rekenrek Training — I get to do trainings for teachers and parents on how children learn mathematics and how to incorporate visuals to build kids’ conceptual understandings to help them understand the abstract mathematics we teach.

My support staff:

FP19 — My hubby and our 4 wonderful kiddos.
